Forbearance.

I may have my first "sports injury" even though what I am doing could never be called "sports" and this is an old issue that could be back due to the two days of rain we've been having. See, when I was helping a friend move a year and a half ago, I slipped on a flat cardboard box on the hardwood floor and twisted my leg in a really Gumby way that did NOT please my right knee. I couldn't stand up for about 2 hours and had to use a walker (much like the one pictured below) to get to the car.

24K of Microsoft Paint glory.
Love the WalMart trash bag. Everything's on Google.

More on my bum knee flare-up after the jump ...

EXERCISE
So ever since my made-up resistance band workout yesterday and my foolish lapse of judgement which caused me to put my weight on my bad knee while making the bed, I can't bend it more than about halfway. Forget lifting up my foot to make wudu or put a sock on. Can you put a sock on without bending your knee? Me neither. I also can't really exercise. I was going to go for a walk because walking's pretty much okay but it's been raining all day so that didn't pan out. I also had to hang out with some fly ladies after work (yes, I work 6 days a week!) and we were too busy making fun of Minnesota cookbooks and eating blondies to walk around anyway. I hope you can cut me a little slack here and let it go just this once. Maybe I will swim tomorrow. That would be good for the knee.

Health Tip of The Day: Consult a professional (even a fake professional on YouTube) to get guidance on safe ways to exercise. I decided to just do my own thing with the resistance band and maybe I made my knee angry. Either way, be careful when trying new exercises so you don't injure yourself. I care about your well-being!

ISLAM
Tomorrow's Arabic class and since we missed last week due to the Meaningful Prayer weekend, I was behind on Quran reading and translation. My Quran study buddy (different than my hadith study buddy but they are cousins) and I worked on three ayat (verses) of Surat Al-Baqarah over the phone. Ironically they had to do with Allah's forbearance with the Children of Israel and the many chances he gave them when they turned away from Him. I thought it fit nicely with my asking you for a break on the exercise thing. See what I did there?

Here are the ayat and their translation (Sahih International, not mine):

And [recall] when We made an appointment with Moses for forty nights.
Then you took [for worship] the calf after him, while you were wrongdoers.

Then We forgave you after that so perhaps you would be grateful.

And [recall] when We gave Moses the Scripture and criterion that perhaps you would be guided.

These were some stubborn people but Allah, the Oft-Returning, the Oft-Merciful kept forgiving and guiding them.

To anyone out there who may be feeling a little out of sorts, or in a bad place in their practice or level of iman (faith), please take these verses to heart. Allah loves for His creation to turn back to him, especially to ask for forgiveness. Never give up on Allah and He will not give up on you.

  1. I still feel really badz about your knee. Can we blame it on the cat in the Tidy Cat bucket and crazy lady carrying it?

You certainly can put socks on without bending your knee. I once spent half a day in physical therapy learning this one, as well as getting in and out of bed. It's funny the stuff they make you do and it feels really awkward getting in and out of a fake bed in a therapy room with a bunch of other gimps looking on. Back to socks, it requires a special tool http://www.lifesolutionsplus.com/achieva-sockassist-p-181.html They have Papyrus for their logo, though, so please just get better instead.

    Love you!
